Rickard also caused much comment in betting circl vesterday when, after reading statements by betting commissioners in morning newspapers that the odds were long on Hughes, he avpeared with twenty-five $1,000 bills and offered them to any one who would give any odds on Hughes. He seid last night that there was some- thing wrong about the quotations which gave a Hughes price of 10 to 9 and 10 to 8, because he cauld not get any such odds.
