Steel Approaches Its Record Mark of 120 3-8 Wall Street.—Industrial shares were the conspicuous features of to- day’s brief but ac e sessian, United States Steel again assuming a leading position and approaching its high record by the smallest margin at 12 3-8. New maximums were regis- tered by General Motors, which rose 26 points to 825, the sugar group and Central Leather. Other industrials were quotably higher with coppers but shipping issues maved contrarily. The recent inquiry for medium and low priced rails was well sustained but investment issues of that group were somewhat reactionary. Profit taking caused a moderate shading of prices toward the end.
