This is a splendid showing when it is con- | U sidered that the museum ‘was closed i for a few days early in the month and 'y ‘ that children were not permitted to attend for ten days prior to the open- ing of school. All records for daily LR attendance waas broken on Septem- 5 5 ber 30, when there was a total of 691 | visitors. The museum is also re-| ceiving numerous gifts of historical : . and natural history specimens. Among the latter is a porcupine which was captured by Johnstone ¥ { Vance while on a hunting and fishing | excursion in Maine and given by him | \ to the museum. Willlam Smith of \ Southington presented a large rac- | \ & clnlhes coon, and a friend of Curator Schurr | in Massachusetts sent a pair of red | 7 [ 3 4 . foxes for the museum. Other ani- | mals are being collected by Mr. | . Schurr and within a short time it is| > hoped to have a collection of Con- ul S an recticut animals second to none in R any museum in the state. " : A number of changes have been 3 [ made in the Talcott art room, and a| i o portrait of Cornelius B.
