BRADY QUITS DEMOCRATIC PARTY | -Senator in a Huff, Claiming He Has Not Received Proper Recog- nition by Party Leaders. Word comes today from Hartford, that ex-Senator John M. Brady of this city, has quit the democratic par- ty and gone over to the republi and ans bag baggage. According to a Hartford paper he has announced his determination to vote the republican ticket this fall from Hughes down and he is quoted as giving several reasons for this decision. Chiefly he asserts that high handed methods adopted by the big six, who are described as Committeeman Ho- mer S. Cummings of Stamford, ex Congressman Thomas L. Reilly of Meriden, State Chairman David E. Haven, ex-Con- man Bryan F. Mahan of New London, United States District Attor- ney Thomas J. Spellacy of Hartford and ex-Senator George M. Landers of New Britain, have caused Mr. Brady to desert his party. Mr. Brady is credited with the claim that the so-called “big six” dil the work of the state convention in a private caucus and that similar ac- tion preceding other conventions which he was one of the victims, caused him to reach the conclusion that he has been in error in main- taining his party affiliations. Mr. Brady has been a lifelong democrat and was elected by the democrats of this city as state senator, defeating the late George W. Corbin for the position nearly ten years ago.
