Conference Between American and Mexican Commissioners to Be Held at New Hampshire Shore Resort. Washington, Aug. 29.—The Ameri- can-Mexican joint commission to seek a solution of border difliculties will meet at Portsmouth, N. H., probably ‘Wednesday or Thursday of next week, The day will be set by the commis- sioners themselves at a preliminary conference in New York next Monday. Eliseo Arredondo, Mexican ambas- sador-designate, and Secretary Lan- ng reached an agreement yesterday as ta the place of meeting, The American commissioners previously had expressed to Mr. Lansing their preference for Portsmouth, and Mr. Arredondo acceded. Luis Cabrera, Mexican minister of finance, and head of the Mexican commissian, arrived at Vera Cruz yes- terday en route north. He is accom- ranied by James Linn Rogers, special agent of the state department in Mexico City, who has been called home by Secretary Lansing to give the American commissioners the benefit of his knowledge of the situation. Secretary Lansing and Mr, Arredon- do both will be present at the meet- ing in New York. The commissioners and their parties probably will go to Portsmouth on a navy vessel. The Americans will take. with them a complete corps of state departmental records which will be sent along for their use. Unusually Large Entries Planned for Fair at B One of the finest exhibits to be seen at the Connecticut State Fair, Berlin, September 11-16, day and night, will be the society’s vegetable display and the special feature exhibit by the Con- necticut Vegetable growers' associa- tion. At the meeting of the executive committee last evening Secretary L. W. Gwatkin briefly outlined the extensive- ness of the entries. One vegetable grower will ship a carload of vege- tables to the fair for competition and exhibition purpo Requests for entry blank from other growers are numerous. Secretary Gwatkin’s re- port showed that there will be a great deal of new competition this year. Requests for entries are much more widespread. Progress on the Pomo- logical society exhibit was reported. There is to be a very extenive ma- chinery exhibit at the fair. Superin- tendent Olmstead reports that the manufacturers are anticipating the opening of the fair with interest and many novel farm machines never be- fore exhibited will be set up.
