Kalish of Forestville arraigned on two charges of violating the automobile law on Arch last Saturday evening. He pleaded not guilty and was defended by Attorney Noble F. Pierce of Bristol. Charles Deam has owned this auto only two three weeks and con- fessed that he knows nothing about the machine. Otto Lipske, who has a bicycle converted into a motorcycle made the complaint. He said he haad stopped at West Pearl street to fix his motor and had just started \in. when Deam’s car suddenly drove towards him from West Pearl street e swerved to the left to avoid e cident and as he did so his wheel skidded under the auto. 'Lipske said the auto went over his bicycle and then proceeded without any of the party getting out to inqguire s to the damage. Lipske's head was cut in the accident. Frank Dutton placed the entire hlame on the automobilists and said he saw the entire accident just as Lipske explained it. So Mrs. Rose Johnson, Mrs. Martin, William Gallagher and J. Hooper. All insisted that the auto struck the cy- clist and did not return to learn the extent of the trouble. Mr. Deam, owner of the car, denied striking the cycle and said the front wheel of Lipske's hicyele collapsed, precipitating him into the street. The reason he did not stop was because he did not” consider himself sible inasmuch as he did not man on the bicycle. Mr. Kalish tes- tified in a similar vein, denying that he hit Lip: and declaring tha bicyele wheel collapsed. Mr. had obtained his license only a week before the accident. Mr. Kalish said he started to return to see if Lipske was badly hurt, but stopped when Mr. Deam said there was no need as they were not mixed up in the accident Mrs. Deam corroborated previous testimony, declaring emphaticall that the auto did not hit the motor- cycle at all Officer A. ¢ Glen street and i Pearl and Arch street nature of these inter: Judge Meskill ruled that cused was guilty and fined and costs for reckless dr suspended judgment on a 1ding responsibility George in to was is said VS, clist. was or an *.
