New Yorl, the New Hospital April 4.—The trustees of York Medical College and for Women will give a luncheon at Delmonico’s Saturday in honor of the fiftieth anniversary or | the graduation of Dr. Anna Manning Comfort, the only surviving member of the first class. The guests of honor will bé Dr. Comfort and Jef- ferson M. Levy, who was one of the incorporators of the institution. Dr. J. Perry Seward, President of the Fac- ulty, will preside. Dr. Comfort was the youngest mem- of her class and at that time the voungest medical graduate In the { world. She was only 20 when she re- ceived her diploma, and was subjected to a specially severe examination be- of her youth. The commence- ment exercises were held in Dr. Os- good’s church on Broadway, and speeches were made by Henry Ward Beccher, Peter Cooper, Horace Gree- ley, Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Dr. Clemence Sophie Lo- zier, the founder and dean of the col- lege, Dr. Comfort is a member and was a pioneer in the movement. She was the first woman to practice medicine in the State of Connecticut, and was later in' gynecology in New York Cit in Syracuse. Perry of New Haven, secretary of the National Association of Shell Fish Commissioners, is sending out notice of theannual convention of that body for April 18, 19 and 20 at Wilming- ton, M. €, Ttns Wwill- be the seventh convention, and the topics which will come prominently to the front for discussion, as in the past two or three sessions, will be those of pollution of waters and conservation of shell fish. Sixteen of the Atlantic and Gulf states send delegates to the convention. The hosts of the asso- ciation will be the Chamber of Com- merce of Wilmington and the State of North Carolina. President M. L. Alexander of New Orleans will pre- side at the convention and the ar- rangements will be in charge of Dr. James Hyde Pratt, state geologist. Among the speakers will be William C.
