Mr. Raphael, Sr., has been in business for a quarter of a century and has earned a rest from the ar- ‘ the LOUIS RAPHAED. duous duties connected with the pro- prietorship of a department store. He is one of the best known mer- chants in Connecticut and his store is one of the most progressive in any city the size of New Britain. He be- | lieves that the burdens of conducting a large store are growing too heavy for his shoulders, thereby making it| advisable to shift them to a younger man. Under the guidance of Louis Ra- phael, the business should continue to prosper. Coming here six years ago when the department store was first opened, the younger Mr. Raphael has shown himself to be well adapted to this line of the retail trade. Much of the credit for building up the business of Mr. Raphael & Son is | due IL.ouis Raphael. Since the store was first opened, it is his hand that has practically been at the helm. Strict attention to business and to the welfare of his patrons have been his chief characteristics. Under his guidance, the concern has expanded and prospered so that it is now one of the most important cogs in New Britain’s business wheel. Starting with 2,000 square feet of space, the store has been enlarged to 8,000 feet. giving an idea of the young manager’s success.
