For a time the girl caused a great deal of -uncertainty: in' police circles for she stoutly maintained that Sim- ons was her soul-mate and- that Can- ning was not her husband but in reality was her brother, whichr ac- counted’ for the fact that they lived ogether. Another startling announce- ment made by Margaret was that on May 29 "Patrick was married to a Miss Margaret Hageman at St. Mary’s parish house and she was a witness.
