UNGLE SAM, IF YOU WANT HELP, TELL US Hyphens Blovm to Amms at Fire- | works Display Last Night Thousands o’f New Britain men, jyvo- city has ever had, last evening at Walnut Hill park. The display was under the direction of the Chamber of Commerce and had been postponed fram Monday evening. From 7 to 9 o’clock an. excellent band concert was rendered by the American band. Patriotism ran high and when airs that stir the blood of all true Ameticans were pl | vast crowd went witd not a hyphenated American ‘on grounds, judging by the manner . wh!cl_! all applauded. The enthus- ! fasm afforded a pleasant study for psychalogists and through it all could ‘Star Spangled Banner” and “Amer- ica,” especially, were greeted = with unrestrained approval. All airs of a military nature were loudly applaud- ed, showing that from a New Britain standpaint President Wilson and Old Glory: will never be in need of sup- port. The fireworks themselves were un- paralleled in the history of New Brit- ain. From 9 unkil almost 10 o'clock the air rocked with the explosion of bombs while the evening sky was lighted again and again with clus- ters of colored lights. Set pieces galore were shown, some amusing, some spectacular, all of the best. The display came to an end in a grand, re- verberating volley of aerial bombs that illuminated the eity for nearly a quarter of a mile around. ., their verandas were aware People living half a mile from the park whe watched the display from that an event of unusual merit was taking place. Like the roar of the sea, the cheering of the crowd, the tooting of hundreds of autamobile horns and the stirring music broke on their ears and it wag evident to those who were not on the spot that New Britain’s best, busiest, noisiest and most enthusiastic crowd had congregated on, the slopes of Walnut Hill, e Nothing but wordsn.of pmlse is spoken today for the. Chamber of Commerce which made the blg time possible. Money with which to pay expenses was collected by the Cham- ber and today it stands firmly en- trenched in the hearts of every New Britain eitizen, near-citizen and future citizen. @y Toilet Preparations ‘used by thosc who y, pure goods. wluplny will be care—The name Marsay stands for shown at our Toilet goods depart- = LIST OF PATENTS.
