LADIES OF RED CROSS REVIEW RELIEF WORK Misica, Litsrary and Busiacss Pre- gram by Woman's Club. A highly interesting and entertain- ing meeting was held by the Wom- an's club yesterday afternoon for the benefit of the Red Cross. The many members present were most enthu- iahic over the success of the after- noon. ¢A musical program opened the eting. The fishermen arrived in time to take off the crew of the Oakby, none of the members of which was injured. . Submarine’s Periscope Seen. The periscope of a submarine was seen before the explosion by the chiet engineer of the Oakby. An attempt was made to tow the Oakby to Dover, but she sank off Folkstone this morning. Merchant Cruiser Lost. London, Feb. %4, 5:25 p. m.—The official information bureau announced this afternoon that the Clan Mac- Naughton, an armed merchant cruiser, is missing. The vessel was last heard from February 3. and it is feared that she has been lost. The text of the bureau’s announce- ment follows: “The secretary of the admiralty re- grets to announce that H.- M. S. Clan MacNaughton, an armed merchant cruiser, Commander Robert Jeffreys, R. N, has been missing since Feb- ruary 3 and it is feared that the ves- sel has been lost. ‘Wreckage Discovered. “An unsuccessful search has been made, and wreckage supposed to be portions of this ship has since been dicovered. The funeral will be held tomorrow morn- ing and interment will be in Nauga- tuck. She is a sister of former Con- stable Ryan of this city. David Walter Weed. David Walter Weed, father of Mrs. Leroy G. Howard of this city, died at his home in Terryville Monday night at the age of sixty-two qears. Besides Mrs. Howard he leaves his wife and five other children The funeral will be held from h home jat 3 o’clock tomorrow. Burial will be in South Norwalk. William Eldridge. The funeral of William Eldridge was held this afternoon from his late home at No. 56 Grove street. Jame E. Beale, Ernest W. Bacon, John J. Coats and William J. Carroll acted as pall bearers. Interment was in Spring Grove cemetery in Hartford. Henry E. Kirk, The funeral of Henry E. Kirk was held in South Marchester this after- noon. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, this city. Miss Rose Corr. Funeral services for Miss Rose Corr will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church. Bur- ial will be in New Catholic cemetery. Card of Thanks.
