Clark & Brainerd Co. e — | Drink More Water if Kid- f neys Bother, ‘&.& less meat and take Salts for ’ Backache or K Bladder trouble. Uric acid in meat excites the kid- meys, they become overworked; get sluggish, ache, and feel like lumps of Jead. The urine becomes cloudy; the bladder is irritated, and you may be obliged to seek relief two or three times during the night. When the kidneys clog you must help them flush off the body’s urinous waste or you’ll be a real sick person shortly. At first you feel a dull misery in the kidney region, you suffer from back- ache, sick headache, dizziness, sto- mach gets sour, tongue coated and you feel rheumatic twinges when the weather is bad. " Bat less meat, drink lots of water; also get from any pharmacist four ounces of Jad Salts; take a table- spoonful in a glass of water before breakfast for a few days and your ' kidneys will then act fine. This fa- mous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and has been used for generations to clean clogged kidneys and stimulate them to normal activ- _ ity, also to neutralize the acids in urine, so it no longer is a source of drritation, thus ending bladder weak- ness, Jad Salts is Inexpensive, cannot in- jure; makes -a delightful effervescent lithia-water drink which everyone should take now and then to keep the kidneys clean and active. Druggists here say they sell lots of Jad Balts to folks who believe in overcoming | - kidney trouble while it is only ! pointed n‘v‘" ‘Wilson has not been made known, but is understood to be something similar to the gift they made the first bfide of the family—a set of furniture for the bride to use in her new home. Follow Historical Precedent. The cabinet membeérs and their wives united in a gift to Miss Wilson and Mr. McAdoo, foilowing a his- torical precedent established at the Cleveland-Folsom wedding. Their present was a set of silver dinner plates and silver platter. It was sent to the bride-to-be early in the week and has been a source of admiration for its massive elegance. The Vice President and Mrs. Mar- i shall were not in the city at the Sayre-Wilson wedding, for which Mrs. Marshall spent part of her last sum- mer’s leisure in making by hand dainty things to give the bride. Her present to today's bride is also of a personal character and was sent over to the White .House this morning. Several of the cabinet women have also sent the bride pieces of their handiwork in linen, lace and embroid- ery for personal and household use. The Postmaster General and Mrs. Burleson are also represented in the collection of presents by an opal laval- liere. - The center stone . hds small pearls around it and the ornament is on a fine gold chain studded ‘here and there with tiny pearls. Sestate’s Gift Selected. The senate’s present was a gold bracelet studded with -diamonds, and it has the added importance of having been chosen from among other pieces of jewelry suggested to Miss Wilson. The senate committee 'in charge of the gift consisted of Senators Martine of New Jersey, chairman, and Sauls- bury of Delaware, Townsend of Michi- gan and Overman of North Carolina. The wives of the senators made the selection. The gift from the house of rep- resentatives was selected by a small committee, headed by Rep. James R. Mann. It consists of a silver tea service, a large tray with kettle and stand, tea pot, coffee pot, sugar bowl, cregm pitcher, waste bowl and a pair of silver candelabra. . There were many other presents of a personal nature from the large circle of relatives and friends. SECOND ELECTION ORDERED. Mayor Wilson of Bridgeport Takes Action in Bond Issuc. Washington May 7.—The wedding noon when Miss Eleanor Randolph Wilson, youngest daughter of the president, will be married to William | Gibbs McAdoo, secretary of the trea- sury, will bring together many hand- some gowns and toilettes of the brid- al party and the limited number of guests who are to attend, chiefly the wives of the vice president and cabi- net officers. ‘While it has been known for some time that the arrangements for the wedding were to be simple and in contrast with some of the brilliant functions of the past, yet this Ahas not affected the desire of the limited few who had’ reason to believe they would witness the event from mak- ing early preparations for gowns suit- able to a function of this character. One troublesome question has been the hour of the ceremony, 6 o'clock— midway between the usual require- ments of an afternoon or an evening gown, and also raising the question of whether a hat was suitable to be worn at a 6 o’clock wedding function, Details Have Been Solved. But these details have now solved by the two score or more ma- trons and maids who are to witness the marriage. Nearly all of them will wear gowng not seen here before this season, and taffetas in light shades, with cream and white laces have been the more generally chosen ma- terials. Mrs, Marshall, wife of the vice pres- ident, selected a costume of white net and lace made in the prevailing ruffled style, the skirt partly draped, with broad embroidered flounces of net, and narrower ones with lace edges. The bodice has the lace and net in a soft kimono blouse effect, Mrs. Bryan, wife of the secretary of state, will wear a very modish gown of taupe taffeta which has a large flowered pattern of roses in deep shades all over it. The draped skirt shows a petticoat in front of em- broidered old rose chiffon. The chif- fon is also inserted in the softly draped waist but a line of white and very fine lace edged the V- neck opening. Mrs. Bryan selected one of her small toques to wear with this dress—a becoming model . in black tulle and jet. White For Mrs. Houston: Mrs. Houston, wife of the secretary of agriculture, will wear white—a very pretty model in lace with touches of Jet and made over white. The sash and girdle are of old gold satin. Mrs. Lane, wife of the secretary of the interior has chosen from among her new frocks a stylish but simply made one of black flowered tissue over lavender chiffon. Both these gauzy materials form the bodice with ivory-tinted lace around the V-shaped opening at the neck. Mrs. Daniels, wife of the secretary of the navy, has chosen a becoming dress of pansy colored charmeuse with over draperies of blue chiffon, which is embroidered in pansies. The purple straw hat she is to wear with it is wreathed with pansies. Mrs. Garrison, wife of the secretary of war, is to wear black and white chiffon draped over white satin, with smart touches achieved by French blue ribbon holding the puff of the skirt drapery and also showing on the bodice where rhinestone buckles hold the soft lace frills around the V-shaped neck. Mrs. Redfield Chooses Silk. Mrs. Redfield, wife of the secretary of commerce, is to wear a summer silk costume, white with hair stripes in mauve. It is trimmead with silver lace, Mrs. Wilson, wife of the secretarp of labor, will wear gray crepe de chine and Miss Agnes Hart Wilson has a blue satin costume with touches of orange velvet and lace in the trim- ming. been CAUSE AND E 'ECT Good Digestion Follows Right Food. Indigestion and the attendant dis- comforts of mind and body are certain to follow continued use of improper food. Those who are still young and robust are likely to overlook the fact that, as dropping water will wear a stone away at last, so will the wuse of heavy greasy, rich food, finally cause loss of appetite and indigestion. Fortunately many are thoughtful enough to study themselves and not: the principle of cause and effect in their daily food. A N. Y. young woman writes her experience thus: “Sometime ago I had a lot of tro:- ble from indigestion, caused by too rich food. I got s0o I was unable to digest scarcely anything, and med- icines seemed useless. “A friend advised mo to try Grape- Nuts food, praising it highly and as a last resort, [ tried it. T am thank. ful to say that Grape-Nuts not only relieved me of my trouble, but built me up and strengthened my digestive organs so that I can now eat anything I desire. But I stick to Grape: Nuts.” .
