MENACED BY GAS. —_— | Break in Outlet of Storage Holder auses Consternation in New London. New London, Conn., May 6.—A break in the main at the outlet of the storage holder of the Connecticut Power company at 12:30 this morning { instantly shut off the city's supply of gas. Tidewater rushed into the main and choked up the outlet. The most serious part of the accident came at 1:40, when the water was pumped out and the flow of gas began again, It was not shut off at the station until 2:20, so that for forty minutes gas had an opportunity to flow through open cocks in dwellings and places of busi- ness. Many houses are today saturat- ed with the odor, but no serious effects have been reported. | i | { “The Hotel of American Ideals.” Hotel Pawhotan WASHINGTON, D. C. New—Fireproof.
