- ~ NEW BRITTAIN DAILY HERALD MONDAY, APRIL 20, 1914. WASHING WON'T RID HEAD OF DANDRUFF Discolve It—That's Best Way. The only sure way to get rid of dandruff is to dissolve it, them you destroy it entirely. To do this, get about four ounces of ordinary liquid arvon; apply it at'night when retir- ing; use enough to moisten the scalp and rub it in gently with the finger tips. Do this tonight, and by morning mest if not all of your dandruff will be gone, and three or four more ap- plications will completely dissolve and entirely destroy every single sign and trace of it, no matter how much dan- druff you may have. You will find, too, that all itching and digging of the.scalp will stop at once, and your hair will be fluffy, lus- trous, glossy, silky and soft, and look and feel a hundred times better. If you want to preserve your hair, do by all means get rid of dandruff, for nothing destroys the hair more quickly. It not only starves the hair and makes it fall out, but it makes it stringy, straggly, dull, dry, brit- tle and lifeless, and everyone notices it. You can get liquid arvon at any drug store. It is inexpensive and never fails to do the work. UARTERLY MEETING WILL BE HELD HERE Eastern Swedish Sunday School As- sociation to Convene at Swedish Bethany Church. Edwin Brown at Bap- tist Church Ten Years. GETS CABLEGRAM FROM A. J. SLOPER Dr. and Mrs. T. Edwin Brown Mar- ried Fifty Years Ago Yestérday— He Tells of Essentials of Christian Church, Rev. Dr. T. Edwin Brown, at the First Baptist church, yesterday preached his sérmon in celebration of the tenth anniversary of his pas- torate in this city. He did not quote statistics or figures, but simply de- livered a straightforward gospel ser- mon that appealed to all of his con- gregation. Several were baptised at the morning service. Wedded Fifty Years Ago. \ During his sermon yesterday Dr. Brown stated that fifty yéars ago yes- terday, which was his wedding day, he was in Brooklyn, N. Y. seeking |a flower for a girl who in his eyes | needed no adornment. He was married to her at 1 o'clock that af- ternoon, he said, and added that al- though he had been unable to find | | the flower he sought, nevertheless he had found the flower of love which became more fragrant as the years rolled ' by. In this connection he told his congregation that this matter was such a personal and domestic one that, possibly he was not doing right in mentioning it, but as his love is born of God he did not see where- in he erred in doing so. In a few: other words Dr. Brown thanked his friends in this city for the way in| which they had treated him and his family and told them how much they | all appreciated it. ‘Wife Here Ten Years. In Dr. Brown's life there is an-| other important event of which yes- terday was the anniversary. Ten vears ago yesterday Mrs. Brown ar- rived in this city where her hus- band had begun his pastorate three | weeks before and on that evening they celebrated their fortieth wed- ding anniversary with a supper- in their new parsonage. s Dr. Brown’s sermon, he said, on the first Sunday after he became pas- tor of the local Baptist church was ‘on the words spoken at Caesarea {Phlllpp, “Myy Church,” and yyester- day he took the same words as his |tnxt, the difference being that it was “Our Chureh” ‘of which he was to speak. In this connection the pastor told how the Baptist church has been permitted to exist for 160 years by the grace of God and told what the | essentials of the church are to meet and perform the mission set before it by the, Lord. Lastly, the church should be a church of prayer, asserted the pastor. He said j that the task the world sets about to do is impossible alone and he added that, therefore, the successful church is the prayerful church. Telegram From A. J. Sloper. Dr. Brown prefaced his sermon by announcing that from ‘‘The Eternal City,” Rome, he had received a con- gratulatory cablegram from the Hon. A. J. Sloper. Another statement made by the clergyman was that yes- terday marked the beginning of the Rew. John Henry Strong's pastorate in Baltimore, Md. C. E. Special Service. At 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon the Christian Endeavor society held a service at the Erwin Home' for the benefit of the elderly ladies who live there. inmates. The C. They are the result of Dr. Edwards’ determindtion not to treat liver and bowel complaints with calomel. His efforts to banish it brought out these little olive-colored tablets. These pleasant little tablets do the good that calomel does but have no bad after effects. They don’t injure the teeth like strong liquids or calomel. They take hold of the trouble and quickly correct it. Why cure the ‘liver at the expense of the teeth? Calomel sometimes plays havoc with the gums. So do strong liquids. It is best not to take calomel, but to let Dr. Edwards’' Olive Tablets take its place. Most headaches, ‘‘dullness” and that lazy feeling come from constipation and a disordered liver. Take Dr. Ed- wards' Olive Tablets When you feel “loggy” and “heavy.” Note how they “clear” clouded brain and how they “perk up” the spirits. At 10c and 25c per hox.
