Miss Mary Groover as Eleanor Horton, American beauty and heiress, was pleasing in her girlish loveliness and presented her character in a very charming man- ner. Her pleasing naturalness and pretty gowns were no more engag- ing than her personality, but com- bined, gave a good representation of the character she portrayed. Miss Jewell Swindell as Nora O'Neil, spinster, as maid of the home, with her Irish brogue, ready wit, bril- liant complexion and splendid mim- icry, was ever ready with the right word to relieve an awkward situa- tion and her very appearance on the stage was the signal for a hu- morous situation. When David Strokaker, as Jim Horton, widower, appeared, he portrayed the good na- tured, whole-souled farmer who did not readily “take up” with city customs; with Leonard Groom as Pete Adams, bachelor, the rustic of good disposition and later of great wealth, a vivid portrayal of the events “When a Man's Single” in the country and as he visits the city friends was given. The arrival of the city friends, Forrest Clonts as Paul Briscoe, bachelor; Ned Skipper, as Winthrop Briscoe, bachelor; Reva Fletcher, as Evelyn Briscoe, a New York belle; with Miss Myrtle McRae as their mother, Mrs. Albert Briscoe, brought such a complication of af- fairs as was well presented by the delineations of each.
