C. T. U- Meets Tomorrow Afternoon The Woman's Christian Temper- ance Union meets tomorrow after- noon at 2:45 at the Cumherland Presbyterian church. A 15-minute prayer service for the situation 1 Hillsborough county will precede the meeting. The superintendents will make their quarterly reports and the president will give her re- port of the State convention at Jacksonville. Woman's Club Meeting The regular program meeting of the Woman’s Club of Lakeland was held at the Club House Thursday afternoon, Dec. 10, with a limited number present, on account of the cold. After some matters of busi- ness were settled, the club voted co- operation with Prof. Jones for thel success of the State Teachers’ Asso- | ciation and committees reported as to assistance to be rendered. Furth- er committees were appointed in charge of this line of work. The, meeting was given in charge of the health department with Mrs. W. D. Edwards as chairman. The pro- gram ag outlined in the year book was well carried out and further en_ larged by musical selections, instru- mental by Mrs. Wi, E. Melton and a vocal number by Mrs. E. Goode, which were of high order and much appreciated. Four new active members and one associate were elected to club mem bership, and thus the working force of the club is augmented. The club adjourned to meet on Dec. 24, according to its year book plan. MRS. C. Those who came up from Tampa for this purpose were Past Deputy Commander W. A. Joughlin, Senior Vice Deputy Commander H. E. Cow- art, Deputy Inspector General G. .. Kelley; Camp Commander I. S. Al- fen; Senior Camp Commander E. L. Mills; Junior Camp Commander Ed_ ward Kane, visiting member from Jacksonville, Louis Verts, and Com- 'mander G. H. Liebrich. These gen_ tlemen were entertained at breakfast and dinner, given an automobile ride over the city and into the sur- rounding country after dinner, all expressing themselves as much sur. prised at the growth Lakeland has made in the past few years. S, Patterson's resigna tion as pastor of the First Presby- terian church was not accepted by the congregation at their meeting yesterday morning, the majority of the memberg desiring him to remain in charge of the pastorate and there_ fore he will be asked to reconsider his action. Rev. Patterson wasout of the city yesterday and had not re- turned in time today to announce his decision in the matter.
