Maull Speaks To Board of Trade - ' l:)n Immigration Those members of the Board of Trade who failed to attend the meet- ing of that body last night missed a double treat. In the first place, Chairman Lange of the entertain- ment committee had prepared a gen- erous spread, consisting of sand- wiches, cheese, pickles, coffee, etc., sufficient to supply four times the number that showed up, and al- though those who were present fought nobly, several baskets could have been filled with what remained of these choice viands. In the sec. ond place, Mr. C. A. Maull, in charge of the advertising depart- ment of the Atlantic Coast Line, was present, and made one of the most interesting and instructive talks ever heard here, on the subject of attracting new settlers and develop- ing the farming interests of this sec- tion. It would have been a great thing for this community if every business man and every farmer in .this vicinity could have heard Mr. ‘Maull, and it is to be regretted no larger attendance was at the meet- ing. Mr. Maull went into detail in re- gard to the manner in which new settlers could be brought into Lake- land, stating that hiz mission was to enlist the services of the Board of Trade and the business men in a co--operative plan with the Atlantic Coast Line, their aim being to secur. permanent settlers for Florida as a business proposition. He moved to Florida in 1877 and has resided in Putnam county ever since. He was the last survivor of a fam- ily of fourteen. His daughter, Mrs. H. Brown, and her husband, and Mrs. Ellsworth and Mrs. Johnson were with him when dissolution oc. curred. His three sons, John F., W, T., and J. P. The body was shipped to T.akeland for interment. 1le was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Meth- odist church. The Masons of Plant City, of which lodge he was a mem- ber, boarded the train at Plant City and accompanied the body to T.ake- land, where the Confederate Veter- ans took charege of the remains and 1aid to rest the old comrade.
