Mrs. Hampton Entertains An unusually delightful affair was hat enjoyed by the Rook Club yes- terday atternoo.fi, when Mis. W. F. Hampton entertained the club and several invited guests at her lovely home on South Kentucky avenue. This home is ideal for pleasant so- cial hours, and many roses and chrysanthemums placed in the three Tooms where the tables were added to the attractiveness. Mrs. Hampton showed her effi- ciency as a hostess by giving the members of the club one of the most pleasant afternoons of the season. She was assisted in caring for her cuests by Misses Mildred Hampton and Mildred Youngs. At the close of the game Mrs. Wilson was found to be the lucky bne, and the club pin wiil be hers for two weeks. Delightful cream, cake 'nnd mwintst | were served to the guests who werc Mmes. Goodwin, who is held under a bench warrant issued in Pensa- cola on an indictment charging him with using the mails to defraud, went to Lakeland vesterday to se- icure bondsmen to g0 on his bond. The bond has been placed at $1,000. yGoodwin, who declares that the ycharges against him will fall ‘throvegh, was confident he could se- !(‘ure the necessary securities at the Polk county metropolis and went there late yesterday afternoon in an auton obile. He was accompanied by a guard, whose expenses he is paying. U. S. Marshal J. C. Brown, who was in the city yester- day on special business, is doing lit- tle to inconvenience Goodwin, as possible.
