Mission Study Class Entertained by Mrs. Fixter ; Yesterday afternoon at the beau- tiful new home of Mrs. Edward Fix_ ter, cn Success avenue, there was a , scene of a pretty gathering, when ,Mrs. Fixter entertained the Mission {Study class of the Dixieland church The subject for the afternoon was | parilla Carnival at Tamp: and also in this city on the occasiou of the town's thirtieth anniversary on Jan. 1 last at which time every business house was elaborately dec orated with festoons of bunting, flags, etc. This decorative scheme is to be repeated on the occasion or the Confederate reunion, and when the veterans reach Lakeland they: will at once feel they are in the hands of their friends, as no stone is to be left unturned lcoking to their complete comfort and enjoy- ment while in the city. * Although the first business ses- sion does not take place until the morning of the 28th, the opening session will be held on the evening of the 27th. On this occasion Gen. J. A. Cox will be the master of ceremonies. The assembly at the Auditorium, which secats 1,700 peo- ple, will be announced by the bugle call. Music will be followed by the invocation to be delivered by Bishop Edwin G. Weed, chaplamn general of Florida Division, U. C. V. The |address of welcome on the part of the veterans will be delivered by Hon. Epps Tucker, Sr.; on the part of the Daughters by Mrs. A. H. Darracott; the Sons of Veterans by J. F. Cox; the city by Mayor O. M. Eaton; the Board of Trade by On the 28th the veterans will as- semble at the Auditorium at 9 a. m., where a business session will be held until noon, another business session taking place between the hours of 2 and 4 in the afternoon. 'At four o'clock the visitors will be treated to an automobile ride about the city and around the lakes, of which Lakcland has nine, all within or bordering on the city limits. On the evening of the 28th a re- ception for the sponsors and maids of honor will be given at the home of Mrs. A. H. Darracott, president of the Lakeland Chapter, U. D. C. This will be a pretty social affair, ‘at which the Daughters will dis- pense true southern hospitality. A musical program will be rendered and other pleasing features enjoyed. On the same evening the veterans will be treated to an address on the KuKlux Klan by W. E. Bell, of Trenton, which will probably be de- livered in the park. Business sessions will take up the entire time on the 29th, until 4 p. m., when a band concert will be given in the park. At 8 o'clock that evening a joint meeting of Veterans and Sons will bo held at the Audi- torium.
