Its grandstand is a nice one and well placed; its ground is in fair shape though it needs some sod in the backfield and back of the home base. Who are Ro- meo and Juliet? Sounds rather ro- mantic, but after all the players who were picked from the various Tampa teams did not look any more roman- tic than any other bunch of ball players we ever saw, and it remains to be seen whether the swift Lake- land bunch were romancing when they said they would add another victory to their long string thig af- ternoon. We feel sure they will and so does the big bunch of fans who are witnessing the game at this writing. playing GRANTHAMS APPRECIATE ASSISTANCE RENDERED Editor Telegram: We take this way to thank the good people of Lakeland and vicinity for their kind remembrance of us through our darkest unless they have felt the angel of death hovering over them and by the timely help of Christian people have been re- lieved, can know how we appreciate the sympathy and help sent to us. P. Me- Lendon, who had sufficient presence of mind to grab hold of the cow- catcher and hold on until the switch engine could be stopped, thus sav- ing her life from being crushed out under the wheels of the moving en- gine. Miss Marie was crossing the railroad at Kentucky Ave. and had just stepped out of the way of the morning train from Fort Myers. She failed to notice that she had stepped on another track on which the ‘switch engine was approaching, un- til she felt something strike her shoe. She turned to find the engine on her. Although she had an umbrella in one hand and some change in anoth- er, she held to both and leaped on to the cowcatcher, being lifted to a place of safety by Wert Jones, who was riding on the front of the en- gine, and whose heroic action saved her life. The young lady was un- hurt. Her umbrella and change talso came through without a seratch. BB l i yBaynard. Malloy and Miller to Wm. M. Inland Realty Company to B. P. Herndon . Independent Hancock.
