LAKELAND | for a Lakeland, ¥la., 1914, Editor Telegram: June 10, Much has pbeen said through your valuable paper about the light and water plant, ang if T may take a small space T would like to say that a great mistake would be made to sell the plants, but I know the peo- ple of Lakeland well enough to know that they will not vote to in- crease the bonded indebtedness so long as the city’s business is con- ducteg in the loose and extravagant manner that is in vogue now. The way these things are run now re- minds me of a little song that was commonly sung when I was a boy and all I remember of it is “One lit- tle nigger and two overseerers.” As to the floating indebtedness T think there must be a mistake about the rate of interest being paid. I woulg like the commissioners to say whether or not the city is pay- ing 8 per cent interest, and if so why they are paying this rate. J. L. SKIPPER.
