Phone 214 Red. 2470 LETTING OUT BABY CLOTHES Matter That Should Be Kept in Mind When the Garments Are First Planned and Made. In making frocks for the baby the “letting out” that will inevitably be found necessary in the course of a few months should always be provided for. A double hem at the bottom is a great convenlence to the busy mother who must do her own sewing. To make it, allow two or three inches more on the length of the garment than is needed for the ordinary wide hem. Make this latter hem in the usual way, finishing it with a row of ma- chine stitching; then turn it up on the under side until the frock is of the re- quired length for immediate wearing and hem it on the machine with a rather large and loose stitch. Then when the frock needs to,be lengthened, there will be nothing to do but take out the temporary stitch. ing, which is a very simple matter. Sleeves may be prepared for future lengthening by having one or more tucks run in them by hand, to be let out as occasion may require, If placed about midway of either the upper or lower arm, these tucks will be rather ornamental than other- wise, and their ultimate purpose will bhardly be suspected. Calla Lity Collars. One of the most popular collars to be seen on summer frocks will be the [100,000 SWEET POTATO slips and | pew calla lily style—a style that curves gracefully away from the back of the neck and opens in the front, 2478 | somewhat like the cup of a lily. Par ticularly when the collar is made of white crepe de chine, is the flower ef- fect heightened. However, soft shadow lace is the medium generally used. Shoe Doctor Tte Reliable shoemaker W. E.
