E. Lancaster, candidate for county commissioner from Dis- trict No. 1, visited Lakeland in the interest of his candidacy, and hig an- 'nouncement will be found in this paper. Mr. Lancaster is a brother of Mr. J. H. Lancaster, and is an able and deserving man. Commissioners are elected by the voters all over the ‘county at the next election, and not by districts, as heretofore. BALL FOR BENEFIT OF NEW BUILDING New York, April 22.—More than two hundred young women will take part in the Spring Festival and Ball which will be begun here today for the benefit of the Societies Building, the new social and civic center of the League for Political Education., The ball will be given this evening, but the pastoral idyl entitled “Spring,” by Manuel Klein, will be given in three days. The young women will appear in costumes rep- resenting roses, violets, tulips and apple-blossoms.
