H. S. basketball teams, chaperoned by Mrs. R. L. Mayes and Mrs. J. P. Wilson, went up to Dade City yes- terday and defeated the high school team of that place by the score of 41to 5. The reception and entertainment | of the Lakeland people by the Dade City students was most cordial and every minute of the day was occu- pied in some one of the many pleas- ant features. Met at the train with cars, they escorted us to the hotel, anid from there to the school build- ing, where Principal Core showed the crowd through the entire school. In the meantime the domestic science class had prepared a sumptu- ous spread, and just at 12 the Lake- land boys anid girls were led to the dining hall, where several tables were groaning under the burden of | the most delectable viands. The ‘Lakeland crowd scoreil the greatest victory ef the day just here. Dinner over, the domestic science class captured the Lakeland boys and after putting an apron on each one, gave them special lessons on dish washing. At 3 o’clock an enthusiastic crowid gathered at the basketball grounds, and witnessed a hotly contested game between the respective teams. The game on, we were again tak- en in charge by Dade City, escorted to the hotel and given a splendid supper, after which we were carried in autos to the train. After many cheers for Dade City. we left, feeling that the brightest day in the history of the present school year was spent in Dade City. A SERIES OF SPECIAL SERMONS The evening sermons at the First| Baptist church during February will be a special series. Following are the themes: Feb. 1, ‘Why I‘,nptists' Baptize.” Feb. 8, “Why Baptists; Immerse.” Feb. 15, “Why Baptists 99 « Commune.” Feb. Why Baptists do not Commune with Others.” The Baptist position will be set forth so clearly in these discussions that even a child may understand what the minister is about. Yet, it is to be a discussion with all the vin- egar squeezed out of it. Those who may not agree with wnat I shall say, can afford to hear the discussions with no sort of fears that their posi- tion will be attacked. And since most all the objections that others hold against the Baptists are in- volved in one or the other of the above questions, I most cordially in- vite all who are not entirely at one with the Baptists on these subjects to hear these discussions.
