D. Lovell.! at her beautiful home on Massachu- setts avenue, in honor of Mr. J. H. Orme. 1 The porch was very artisticaily decorated with potted 1)lan'ts, ferns and rugs, a fit setting for the lovely gowned and beautiful women, who gathered to enjoy the charming hoz- pitality, of our hostess. A very merry party it was; each and every one enjoying the bril'ant conversation and genial atmosphere which prevailed throughout the af- ternoon, each one seeming en rap- port with the other. One of the most pleasing features of the afternoon was the telling of jokes by each of the guests., Very amusing and entertaining were the jokes as they were told round the circle, each joke seeming the best yet, creating an air of expectancy | as to who would be the fortunate winner of the prize offer~d, for the best joke. So close was the contest, that Mrs. 8. T. Fletcher and Mrs, W. D. Edwards tied for th~o honor. Here the generosity and charm of our hostess was exhibited by her presenting an exquisite hand-paint- ed china cream pitcher to Mrs. Fletcher, ands a cut glass olive dish to Mrs. Edwards. Following this pastim~, most de- licious refreshments of ice cream and cake were daintily served. Then came the farewells and best wishes for the success of the hon- oree, one of Lakeland’s most popu- lar young men. Our city will certainly miss this ! shine. i scattering words of cheer and sun- He is a young man of sterl- i ing character, always generous with { his talent; uplifting in his influence, | and beautiful in his devotion to his aunt, vho was his constant com- panion. Mr. Orme, together with Mrs. Fletcher, who has been his constant companion in everything that per- tained to music, have been an in- spiration to all in the musical life of the city, as well as intellectually and socially. The growth of our city along these lines, and the high tone they have given to society is most discernable. The good they have done cannot be measured here, but in eternity only. It is with great regret that Mr. Orme's many friends give him up, but what is our loss is some one's else gain, so we most heartily wish him well in his new home. Those who enjoyed Mrs. Lovell’s gracious hospitality were as follows: Mmes, John Orme, K. Madden, J. D. O’Hern, S. T. Wletcher, C. W. Hinsdale, H. J. Drane, E, L. Cor. dery, Wm. Steitz, E. C.
