An extremely simple and practical rubber novelty comes in the shape ot a bunch of violets and is designed for the protection of a gown when the natural flowers are worn. It is made of green rubberized silk, the shade of the violet leaves and is outlined with a green wire. When worn it effectually prevents the pene- tration of any moisture to the gown. The wire edge permits of shaping the holder to the bouquet proper and the latter is then attached to the corsage or wherever else desired. Painting the House. The odor of fresh paint indoors will last for many days and even weeks, especially if the weather is not favor able for drying it. Rooms should be heated to assist the drying process, and buckets of water should be placed in all rooms to absorb poisonous gases, as water quickly absorbs all impurities of the air. Rooms that retain the paint odor can be freshened if sugar is burned in them. It is preferable to disinfect- ants, especlally when the latter 1s really not essentlal. It has long since been learned that sugar smoke |is death-dealing to microbes, and it is recommended for use also in a house where there is disease. It Depends.
