A red nose is an affliction which proceeds from such a variety of causes that it is quite difficult to suggest a universal cure, and as a red nose is an undesirable condition, no woman should hesitate about treating this feature as soon as the skin begins to show discoloration. When the flesh on the nose becomes red, it indicates some physical trouble that needs cor- rection. This external sign of internal do- rangement may be the result of an excess of eating, drinking, restricted circulation of the blood or an inflamed condition of the nose. Whatever the cause, its source should be discovered and remedies applied without delay. On one occasion a woman wished to cure a red nose, and I suggested one cure after another. She followed all directions, but got no relief. Finally I urged her to see a doctor, because I suspected inflammation, which even- tually was found to be the cause of the red nose. If you are positive as to your diet being the right sort and your circula- tion is good, then in almost every in- stance it is advisable to have the membranes of the nose linings exam- ined for possible {inflammation, be- cause if they are swollen an external redness is sure to follow. If the nasal structure {8 in a healthy condition, however, then one can be reasonably sure that by simple diet and outward applications the flesh can be restored to its normal whiteness.—Philadelphia Telegraph. Again in 1821, when the Cretans re volted, the defeated Turks were able to hold the fortified cities against all attacks, and many of them were still uncaptured when the powers {inten vened nine years later.
