Harri- son suggested to Father Booth that as he had a plethora of white rats and the rattlesnakes needed feeding, it would be a good idea to give the | big rattlers a rat each. Rattlers are fond of the common gray rat and they often feed this variety., It was thought the rattlers would regard the white oncs as a dainty meal, Mr. Harrison caught a couple of white ones and dropped into the rat- tier inclosure and watched proceed-- ings a few minutes. The snakes stayed in coil but made no effort to strike the prey preparatory to a feed. The rats scampered about as if in- vestigating their new home and un- conscious of so deadly companions. Mr. Harrison finally grew tired of a scene so tame and went away. Next morning a darkey in the Bingham and Maley employ came to Mr. Har- rison saying: ‘“You'd better go out to de snake cage; dem white rats done e2bout killed and et up one o de snakes.” Mr. Harrison was surprised on going out to find the snakes crawling about in fear and agony, eaten one of them to the bonc in several places, The rats were removed hut the snake will probably die, having been so badly ot If you want to see what his rat- ship did for the rattler, 2o around to the Booth Zoological garden and take a peek for yourself.—Daytona Jour- nal. i First Ap'ication Darkens the Hair A Simple Remedy Gives Color and Strength and Beauty to the Hair.
