Tiorida Has Grand Climate and Also Grand Opportunities If one were seeking world wide for a veritable example of a land of +milk and honey,” it would be diffi- cult to discover a more perfect one than Florida. Situated between the 1:ild Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of iexico, with a genial climate, th2 iwnd teems with all the good things of the earth and with the living things that thrive upon it. From the zrain and field stuffs of the north and northwest to the fruits of Italy it runs the gamut of agrarianism, eliminating no product that bringe Lealth, wealth and happiness to the soul or body of man and beast. With its ever temperate climate it Froduces crops almost four-fold those in any other part o the country. In thig State fruit growing has reached the highest state of perfection. All sorts of choice peaches, pears, grapes, figs, oranges, grapefruit srow and are produced dance. The school facilities of this State ire the best. In every town there arz many well built, restful looking buildings equipped with all the mod- ern educational appliances and pre- sided over by efficient teachers, There is hardly a town in the State that is not on a railroad or steamer service, and' those that are not in connection with other towns Ly autos or other means. : Dairy ranching hag also attained a flourishing condition. Cows aver- age two to four gallons of milk per- day, and the cost of feed is nominal Fish of all kinds may be caught in the lakes, creeks, bayous and all sorts of game may be shot in abun- dance. Life sings joyfully from the turoats of the meadow larks in the fields, from the mocking birds in the sweet magnolias and even the owl l'oots a note of welcome to the trav- cler in the night. In fact, industries of every de- scription abound and flourish. One can hardly mention the name of Florida but to be reminded of the srand opportunities offered for bath- ing and boating. Salt water bath- ing along the coasts and in the lakes of the interior. Crafts of all suitabie sizes for business or pleasure are to found plying in the beautiful warm waters of the State. With all the great attractions of Florida but half told, there remains ore, which possibly is greater than all others—its wonderful climate. The oxygen from the air of the Guls and Atlantic and the balsam of the rines tend to form an atmosphere that is invigorating and health giv- irg. 1t is possible for one to go out every day in the year and mingle among all the semi-tropical growths «f plant life, which are found here in great profusion. FKFrom the small- er wild flower on every side to the more stately palms and magnolias, covered with graceful Spanish moss The weather is mild and balmy in the winter and cool and comfortable during summer. The rainfall i ample, occurring usually as showers during the late spring and early summer months, Some day people will learn these tnings and then you v:ill know that the promises of a new life are open to them and they will come and take possession and he made welcome. And when those who have plough- ci shivering through the ice ana snow of the north are kissed by the Vlorida sunshine, with the mocking birds singine zaily around them, with the breath of violets in the ai¢ they will fall on their knees and sav, “God, we thank Thee, for this is the Tand of Milk and Iloney.” Lyna Haven Tribune. and nuts in abun- IS THE BEST INVESTMENT IN FLORIDA. Percival Hutton has just re- turned from Jacksoaville where he attended, with L. E. Lindsey and Murray S. King, the convention o: Florida Architects, at wkich one of the most important steps in the up- building of Florida was taken in the {ormation of an association of the architects of the entire State. The convention was in session all day Saturday and all points in the constitution, by-laws and code of cthics were discussed and agreed up- on, The following officers were elect- | ] ed: Geo. O. Holmes, of Jacksonville, president; George L. Pfeiffer, of Mi- ami, first vice president; M. L. Elli- ott, of Tampa, second vice president; Rutledge Holmes, of Jacksonville, secretary and treasurer; W. B. Tal- lcy, H. J. Klutho, M. C. Greeley, of Jacksonville, and L. Percival Hutton. of Orlando, directors. There has been a great need for such an association as this, the ob- jects of which are to bring together |, the practicing architects of the State to meet and “combine their efforts to promote the artistic, scientific and wractical efficiency of the profes- s.on.” The degree of civilization of any race may be fairly judged by its architecture. Few people, however, realize the quiet bug effective part rlayed by architects in the develop- ment of civilization, but any effort such as this is a great step forward. One committee will be appointed tc look into and suggest remedies fcr the various abuses in buflding work, in laws which, framed when the State was much younger, have Lcen out-grown, but unchanged. An- other on education, to help the stu- dent and draftsman. Another on the Guestion of public and private com- Letitions, which as now conducted do not lead to the best results or fairness to the competitors them- selves. Another will consult civic improvement leagues throughout the State by collecting information as tc work in the beautification and pianning of municipal work for pres- ent and future. There will be a study of the build- ing resources of the State to develop them to the fullest and save the own- er by the use of home materials. The | | interchange of ideas, experiences and processes of work by means of talks and lectures at the conventions, It is nroposed to hold conventions or neetings each six months in various cities throughout the State and it is brobable that the lectures and talks vill he open to the public.—Orlando Reporter Star.
