Peacock, who has been seriously ill for the past two months, passed away Saturday night at the Gordon Keller hospital in Tampa, whither he was taken to be operated on for abscess of the liver. The op- cration was performed, and it was thought Mr. Peacock was getting along remarkably well; however, Sat- urday afternoon he began to sink, and before any of his family could reach his bedside, he had passed to Lis fina] reward. The body was brought up to Lake- land yesterday morning at 11:35, and i the funeral was conducted yesterday at 4 o'clock, Rev. Isaac C. Jenkins of- ficiating. A large number of sorrow- ing friends were present to pay their last respects. Mr. Peacock came to Lakeland sev- eral years ago from North Carolina and engaged in the lumber business, being associated in this business with his son-in-law, Mr. R. E. Lufsey, un- til the business was sold to the firm now known as the Lakeland Manufac- taring Co. He owned a large busi- ness block on South Florida avenue, and had built a lovely home, one of the handsomest in the city. In this way, Mr. Peacock was a considerable factor in the upbuilding and develop- ment of Lakeland, and in his passing he will be greatly missed.
