LENGTHIEST BALLOT IN STATE'S HISTORY. Probably the longest ballot in the history of the State will confront voters at the State and county Demo- cratic primary to be held April 30. It will be forty-two inches long, the names of candidates being printed in one column instead of two, to avoid confusion. The length of the ballot is partial- 1y due to the unusually large number of candidates running for all offices but also to the fact that, hesides the ‘usuul officers, the voters are to elect 'a congressman at large, vote their 'preference for Democratic nominee for the presidency and elect delegates te the national convention,—Tampa ¢ ribune. During the short period that has intervened since the holding of the last meeting of the Good Roads As- sociation on Wednesday, April 3, and the present time, much good has been accomplished. Several miles of roadway have been cleared and work is still pro- gressing. The association is deter- mined that they will allow no grass to grow under their feet, but that part of Polk county to which their operations are especially directed sliall have a system of roadways sec- ond to none in the State, The enthusiasm and determination of cach and every one of the mem- bers of the association is shown by the active interest they aro taking in the association’sqwork. The coun- ty commissioners who are always ready to co-operate, have noticed the ‘splrit which tho various members of the Lakeland Highlands Good Roads Lion 1 displaying and have yed of the association's work.
