Advertising is dificrent from other news in that it admits the exercise of the editorial function in application of the facts in a way to lead to con- clusions. | Advertising is like other news in '\h-.n it should be honest, candid, in- forming, entertaining, with the im- portant facts firsi stated. Advertising is intended to teach and like all teaching must be sensi- ble and persistent—“line upon line and precept upon precept;” “here a little and there a little” —bringing forth things that are new, and re- viewing, newly stating and enfore ing things that are old. Advertising should be honest, oth- erwise it is not news but fiction; not instruction but misinformation, in- jurious to the misinformed and to the advertiser.
