The ditching of freight train at a switch on the Atlantic Line near Homeland caused the pas- senger train from Jacksonville to be and one-half hours behind time, It was due I o'clock but did not reach here until between 5:30 and 6 o'clock last evening. The train which leaves here at 3 o'clock for Jacksonville was correspondingly delayed, pulling out about 9 o'clock last night. According to accounts there were seventeen freight cars in the train, and four of these were completely smashed ,and their contents, which included groceries, flour nanas, were piled around promiscu- a Coast ously. No official information is ob- tainable as to the cause of wreck but since it occurred at a switch it is presumed that the switch was either open or was in some other manner to blame for the accident. The engine and first car are said to have crossed in safety, but the rest of the train overturned. It is said that a man and a mule were in the first car. When other cars went off stopped at an embankment and the door was opened. It is related that the mule walked calmly ont and took a judicial survey of the disaster while his human companion fol- lowed him to terra firma. The man is said to have received some seratehes on his hand, Otherwise the damage of the wreck was con- fined to the smashed cars and their contents.——Fort Myers Press, SHEATS AT THE CAPITOL. Hon. W.
