FLORIDA EGGS SOLD AT $5 EACH Information comes to us that the lakemont Poultry Farm of Winter Park, which makes a specialty of Rhode Island Reds, sold a sitting of 'ggs, week before last, to a party in _alifornia for $5 an egg—$60 a dozen. This is the record price for aggs, at least in the South. But, of course, if one only of those $5 eggs produces a chicken that will be worth a hundred or two ‘imes as much when grown, it is not too zreat a price to pay for them. At any valuation such as is put on such fancy fowls today the investment is a good one, provided that no mishap overtakes the eggs in transit.— Times-Union. Simeon Ford is sometimes really witty. Describing a visit to Palm Beach, he says: “Palm Beach s well named. There are palms on ev- ery hand, and especially on the col- ored employers, and they are continp- ally waving, thus creating a gentle draft on the pocketbook. Every time you turn around you are held up by a colored bandit with a seductive smile, and a productive whisk-broom, and his battle cry is “No quarter— nothing less than a half dollar.” FLORIDA BUILDING BOOM. From all parts of Florida come re- ports of great progress in building. Nearly every city and town in the State has been this winter crowded to its capacity, and the necessity of erecting more buildings is generally realized. Quite a number of visitors have been so favorably impressed with the outlook that they have in- vested in Florida and will spend con- siderable sums of money during the present year In the erection of build- ings. As the Fanama Canal approaches completion this project seems more certain, and to show its advantages, Col. Watter- son had the following to say in re- gard to it: “To the untraveled mind the south- ern coast of Florida, extending on the East Atlantic from Palm Beach and Miami to Key West and on the gulf coast from Tampa down by Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande, including the Lake Okeechobee and Caloosahatchee river regions to the Dry Tortugas, seems a long ways off. “It is just outside the door of our back yard.
