It is purpose that moves the min- |ister to stand at the sacred desk and proclaim the Word of God to lost souls, And in every vocation of life it is the well developed purpose that suc- conds. Their names are held as im- mortal and it was worth while. What- ever there is of \good report it is bound up in the one thing—constan- cy to purpose. Don't drift into lasiness, don’t drift into the smoking or chewing habit, don’t drift into the habit of slang, don’t drift into speaking evil of your friends, don’t drift into looseness of character, don't drift into jealousy, don’t drift into the love of praise of men nor love of fine clothes; don’t drift into story telling; don't drift into cant’s. It is possible to abstain from so many dont's; there is but one way to get perfect control of one's self, i. e, get use of one's self by constant use. It is the only means to suc- cess, Shakespeare said: “Some men are born great, some achieve great- ness and some have greatness.” The truth lies in the second assertion— some achieve greatness. No man was ever great only as won for him- self. Great men do great deeds. Let us get away from the commonplace in the sense that we will not go down stream but up.
