A guessing contest was a merry feature and Miss Frances Chambers was award- ed a pretty hat pin holder for giving the greatest number of correct an- swers. The Ladies' Memorial Association will hold its regular monthly meet- ing tomorrow afternoon at the resi- dence of the President, Mrs. J. L. Skipper and as business of import- ance is to come before the Assocla-| tion, all members are requested to be present, When the Association was or- ganized. the ladies employed a color- ed ‘man to takec ar efote athoin U ed man to take care of the cemetery and keep it in first-class condition, agreeing to pay him a small salary, which, with the money derived from the work of sexton, which it is stat- ed was promised, would enable him to earn a sufficient sum to spend the greater part of the time in caring for the cemetery. By some misun- derstanding he was not given the work of sexton and has abandoned the cemetery work in order to se- cure other employment which would i pay better. The cemetery is now without a caretaker, and it is to come to some understanding in re- ,gard to securing a suitable person to care for it, that all members are urged to be present at the meeting to morrow afternoon. . . L] Missionary Societies Meeting This Afternoon. The Home and Foreign Missionary societies, of the Methodist church, ! which some months ago were united, this style; the skirt has a floating panel down front tak- en to within a few inches of foot. The basque of the Russian coat is add- ed under a belt of black satin, the revers are also of satin edged with black and white striped sllk; this with a binding of satin trims the sleeves; a frill of soft lace adds a finish, Hat of black satin, trimmed with ostrich feathers. Visiting Dress.—Eau de Nil Vene tlan cloth is used here, the skirt is slightly high-waisted, and is trimmed part way down each side by cord sewn on quite straight, with a waving of narrower cord between; a row of buttons is sewn on the inside, little openings are left at the foot, to show ALKING COSTUME.—Cloth or serge would make up well in pleces of materfal trimmed with cord. The Magyar bodice is trimmed to match, with the addition of black satin, which forms straps outside cord, and finishes collar and cuffs. Hat of Tagel to match, trimmed with a feather and bead cabouchon. Smart Dress.—This becoming dress Is made up In vieux rose delalne, pat- terned in black and white, and In plaln vieux rose delaine. The tunic and lower pact of bodice are of the fancy delaine, the latter is prettily trimmed with strappings of black satin, which also edge the over-sleeves and yoke, while lace is used for the under-sleeves and yoke; the lower part of skirt and upper of bodice are of the plain delaine. Hat of black chip, trimmed with an aigrette and a large rosette of vieux rose tulle, Secretary. Mrs. F. B. Terrell—Supt. Department, Press Mr. and Mrs. John W. Darracott and bright little son, of Coronet, drove up to Lakeland last night in their handsome ‘‘Everett” and spent several hours here the guests of rel- atives. * * * Mr. Will Gracy states that he is expecting his sister, Miss Mertie Gracy, to arrive in Lakeland in about ten days, which will be pleasing news to her scores of friends. Miss Gracy spent the summer in Colorado, Cal- ifornia and Oregon an dis now in Tennessee. She is a former much loved teacher of the Lakeland High School and will be warmly welcom- ed home by her many pupils as well as other friends. . . L] i = many friends.
