I \We could have continued in the past, and contined our efforts to the publication of the weekly paper which we had built up to a point where it vields excellent returns for the lubor reguired and capital We have chosen, how- .| ever, of our own free will, and with- out coercion of any Kind, to take up the burden of furnishing a daily paper to this community. We have ever been loth to being laggard in any upward or onward march; and while urging others forward in the path of progress, we have not failed to place ourselves in the column’s van. This paper hopes to accomplish some things for Lakeland—to be a helper in every movement for the general good. If by encourage- ment, by suggestion, by giving to our fellowman th. lest that is in us, we can aid i. “:inging about better things for u., it will be far more to us than any consideration of personal gain. We enter upon our self-appointed task with an en- thusiasm born of love of the work we have set ourself to do, and we shall try to make this newspaper a fitting and creditable exponent of this splendid community. How well we shall succeed, depends upon the we receive from those whose interests are identical with ours, and who ought to be actuated by the same ambitions and ideals. We have sub-divided our prop- erty in Lakeland Highlands, centering around Banana, Scott and Seward lakes into Bungalow lots and ten-acre tracts. We are develeping this prop- erty as a high class resort: we have sold a large portion of this property to people of means in the northern states, who will build beautiful homes and plant grapefruit, orange and tanger- ine groves on their holdings, A number of sales have been made to residents of Polk county, who realize the investment op- portunity and who further de- sire to take advantage of the pleasure and social features of this high class Club Colony. The Elevation of Lakeland Highlands is 300 feet above sea level. The Danoramic views are unsurpass- ed in Florida. The land is roll- ing and naturally drained. The climate is pure and invigorating and there are no mosquitoes nor malaria at Lakeland Highlands. The improvements now under construction. consist of a mag- nificent Country Club Honse, Spanish Mission style of archi- tecture, schoo! and chapel, boat houses, stables and garage.
