Sunday, December 2%. Jesus’ Birth Is Old Stone Sermon Topic «J. Paul Touchton, pastor of the First. Methodist Church, will on Sunday morning be speaking on the topic ‘“‘When Jesus was born.” if we might stand on the side and observe the meaning of our var- ious activities no doubt much of our fevered hurry and rush would take on different colors. One of the great questions we should ask is what is this Christ- mas about anyway? From obser- vation one must confess that it is | something big and of primary im- portance. But bigness does not mean salvation, In comparison to other nations, | the Hebrews were never large in number, but because God through | them prepared the way for the coming of the Christ, the savior of the world, their contribution was the largest and the most impor- tant of anybody in the ancient world. Enrichment Emphasized On Sunday morning Mr. Touch- ton will emphasize the great en- richment which came to the world out of the birth, life, death, and re- surrection of Jesus. If we could get a cross section of life then and compare it with life now, we should find that our | world and our age in this country has been greatly enriched. This enrichment had “not come alone in a material way. Physical advantages which are truly signi- | ficant could not have been had | without the proper spiritual atmos- phere which they might grow. History Cited Many nations have reached their golden age and have enjoyed the good life physically. Then those | same nations have fallen because they failed to render service to the world. At this Christmas season as well as throughout the year it would be well for us to realize that this could happen to us. | Featured in both Sunday services at the First Methodist Church will be specials presented by Mrs. Ru. ie Roberts and the choir. On Sun- day morning the prelude will be | Borouski’s “Adoration.” For the Offertory Julius Dupree, will sing, | “Jesus Bamino” by P. A. Yon. Also at the morning service the choir | will render two anthems “And There were Shepherds” by Wilson and “‘Cantique de Noel” by Adam. | Evening Service At the evening worship hour, the | choir will sing ‘Gloria In Excelsis Deo” by Lorenz, also “Wonderful Story” by Wilson, Julius Dupree will lead the choir and congrega- tion in a period of carol singing. / | the community want for all its ‘Spanish Congregation To Give Pageant At Latin-American Spanish Congregation The Special Christmas service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Sunday in the Spanish Department of the Lat- in American Baptist Church.
