The ruling was made on Mrs. Doornbos’ petition that she he given sole custody of her son David, 5, and that her husband be | denied visits to the child. She based her plea on the ground that the child was conceived by artificial insemination from a don- or other than her husband. The petition also asked that artificial insemination be declared morul and not adulterous. The ruling raised grave ques- tions as to the legitimacy and he- redity rights of many Illinois chil- dren born through artificial insem- ination in which the father was not a participant. Such impregna- tion is known as heterologous ar- tificial insemination.
