Society — Persona SUE JONES, Editor Choral Shores PTA Has Christmas Program Tuesday Is — News Of Interest To Women Preholiday activities began on] Tuesday night at the regular meet- ing of Coral Shores School PTA when cildren of the first through sixth grades presented a Christ- mas program for the parents. The cafetorium of the school was filled to capacity to hear a chorus of youngsters sing tradition- al carols and to enjoy a two act p:ay by a well trained cast. Gifts were exchanged before a short business meeting which sanc- tioned participation with Upper Keys Youth Council groups in a huge community Christmas tree at the school grounds on Thursday, December 23 at 7:30 p. m. Cash prizes to 12 student win- ners in the recent poster contest for the Upper Keys Lime Festival were presented by Carolyn V. Co- hen, secretary of the Upper Keys Chamber of Commerce, The annual Coral Shores School Christmas program will be held cn the school grounds on Saturday, December 11 at 8 p. m. The entire group of Navy Wives Club 88 will participate in passing out the stamped safety slips to all places of business this week. The club sponsored 2,000 printed leaf- lets pertaining to S-D Day which will be given out by the Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops in this city. Guests attending this meeting class will ‘start about the middle of January. The January meeting will be an afternoon tea with the chairman, Mrs. Leightley, as hotess. Mothers’ Patrol Has Dinner Party Monday Evening The Sigsbee Park Mothers Pa- trol staged a dinner party at Raul’s on the evening of December 8. Captain and Mrs. C. L. Murray were guests of the group. The party was held in celebra- tion of three months of active civic work by the ladies in the Sigsbee Park housing area. Although only seven of the seventeen members of the patrol attended, those at the party fully enjoyed the evening and were highly pleased with the results. Members of the patrol attending were Evelyn Kauffman, Betty Ber- trand, Rosemarie Fouche, Katie Mae Frazer, Stephanie Smith, Eu- nice, Masters and Miss Lillian Mas- ters. The party numbered fifteen per- sons in all. Attending as guests were Captain Murphy, Staff of the Naval Station; «Mrs. Murphy; Claude Spears, resident manager of Sigsbee Park; Mrs. Spears; Mrs. T. H. Roberts, pre- sident of the Sigsbee Park Com- munity Council; Mrs. Roberts; Mr. Fouche and Mr. Frazer. Mrs. Frazer, chairman of the Safety Patrol, thanked all the members for their faithfulness in carrying out their self-appointed tasks. % : She suggested that a first aid station on Sigsbee Park for the treatment of minor cuts and bruis- es would relieve the pressure on the Naval Hospital. Captain Mur- phy agreed with the suggestion and promised to take the matter under consideration. Sigsbee Park Navy Wives Club Sets Festival Date The Mary Paolozzi, Navy Wives Club held a special meeting last Tuesday to put the finishing touch- es on the “Winter Festival” plan- ned for December 17 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. in Sigsbee Park. There will be games and booths for everyone’s enjoyment, includ- ing the rummage sale, cake walk and even a Santa Claus for the kiddies to have their pictures tak- en with. Booths are being built with the generous help of the Boca Chica recreation department. Prizes donated by Key West mer- chants are now on display in the Sigsbee Park Post Office. Three new members, Delphine Duff, Dorothy Bogdon and Madelyn Keane, were wélcomed into the club. The next meeting has been set for December 14 at 8:00 p.m. at 18-B Arthur Sawyer Road. All enlisted: mens’ wives from Sigsbee Park are cordially invited to attend.
