The door opens with just a touch of a finger or elbow if your hands are full. This is just about the roomiest and most convenient refrigerator you'll ever see. Shelves roll out so you can find what's stored in the back. There are two humidrawers with glass ~ that seal in moist cold. A butter keeper compartment keeps butter at just the right temperature for The full-width freezer at the top holds up to 56 pounds of food. It’s insulated at top, bottom and sides and has a self-closing door for efficient cold making. Ice cube trays rest here in their own covered section. Self Defroster Aid To Housewife The Westinghouse is frost-free and self-detrosting. Froz- en foods remain firmly ffozen during deirosting. Defrost water is automatically removed and evaporated. You never have to remove an ore coon tray or about the refrigerator being = too long during the pro- cess. The cycle is initiated by a fixed number of door open- ings so defrosting occurs only when needed. | No More “Blue Monday” Other ‘55 Westinghouse appliances on display at Lou's are the new laundromat automatic washer and its compan- ion, the dryer. And there's a free gift for all who ask for a demonstration of the laundromat this week. These Wesi- inghouse Laundry Twins, as they are called, make for the easiest washday ever. Any of these appliances may be financed through the Florida National Bank, which, Lou says, has the lowest interest rates available, : Other Fine Appliances Here In addition to the Westinghouse line, Lou carries RCA, Emerson, Admiral, Motorola and Westinghouse radios. He has the parts needed for replacement. And if you're looking for electric irons, Presto pressure cookers, Sunbeam mix- masters or other small’ household electrical conveniences, you'll find them here. Lou's Mitchell air conditioners are big items during Key West summers. And the new Bard-Matic garbage disposal unit is an innovation that any resident in a warm climate will find useful. The Bard-Matic is easily installed in the backyard with a minimum of mass and fuss. Chemicals eat up garbage and refuse as they are emptied into the container. There's no chance for garbage to collect and become an unpleasant smell by the back door, The price is $39.95 for the com- plete unit. Fame i oh Also on display are record players from tiny portable units to larger three-speed players.’ You can choose both classical and popular records and file cases for their safe- keeping. An easy way to do your Christmas shopping is to buy now and use Lou's Christmas lay-away plan. By choosing early you are assured of getting the merchandise you want and having it paid for by December 25. Civic Leader * A story about Lou Carbonell’s radio and appliance busi- ness wouldn't be complete without something about Lou himself. He's well known for his role in city government and for the he takes in civic organizations. At the completion of his present term, Lou will have been a city commissioner for eight years. He is a past-president of. the Key West Lions Club and for ten years has been City Chairman for the March of Dimes. Each year, Lou reports, the campaign has raised more money than the previous year netted. For two years he was also County Chairman of the Cancer Fund Drive. Lou instigated the annual charity football game three years ago. This year the game will be played between an army team from Eglin Airforce Base and a navy team from Pensacola. Receipts from the game are split between the Navy Relief Society, the March of Dimes and the Lions Club Blind Fund. The previous games were played by navy and marine teams. is Sharing an enthusiasm that most Key Westers feel for sports, Lou brought the first professional baseball team here. A Class B team in the Florida International League, it proved very popular with Key Westers. It was disbanded i other teams objected to traveling the distance to Key est. ‘Appliance Store. toro ASAE THOMPSON'S Sirsctameet HARDWARE your meals as you go on vacations 105 Simonton Street 826 Duval Street Monday, October 25, 1954 _ THE KEY WEST CITIZEN Page P SEWER CONNECTIONS??
