He's well known for his role in city government and for the he takes in civic organizations. At the completion of his present term, Lou will have been a city commissioner for eight years. He is a past-president of. the Key West Lions Club and for ten years has been City Chairman for the March of Dimes. Each year, Lou reports, the campaign has raised more money than the previous year netted. For two years he was also County Chairman of the Cancer Fund Drive. Lou instigated the annual charity football game three years ago. This year the game will be played between an army team from Eglin Airforce Base and a navy team from Pensacola. Receipts from the game are split between the Navy Relief Society, the March of Dimes and the Lions Club Blind Fund. The previous games were played by navy and marine teams. is Sharing an enthusiasm that most Key Westers feel for sports, Lou brought the first professional baseball team here. A Class B team in the Florida International League, it proved very popular with Key Westers.
