-Sigsbee Park Building Progr am Progreses Sun Shelters And Fences Are Being Built In Play Areas By WILLIAM FRAZER The construction and clean up program is growing in Sigsbee Park. Under the direction of the Community Couneil and sponsored by the U. C. D. S., the housing area is taking on a “new look.” Loose coral has been raked from several courts and construction started on one sun shelter in the proposed play areas. The shelter, rapidly nearing completion, will shade |. a sand box especially designed for use by the diaper set. A fence is planned to enclose the immediate area which will help keep the children from wandering into the streets. ‘ Home made swings and teeter-totters will be next on the program. Although community planning has been carried out with varying degrees of success elsewhere, the experimént in Sigsbee Park is uni- que in that it is being tried in a housing area where the residents s months. City building permits in Aug- gust were $10,625 more than in July. During July permits totalled $255,629 and for August, the figure was $266,254. For the first eight months of 1954, $1,856,983 in permits were issued During the first eight months of 1953, the total was Na a increase of $115,- Home Building Shows Increase In Key West Key West construction business took an upturn during the past week when $88,500 in city building permits were taken out for new homes. The CBS Construction Company, Inc., led the list with $45,500 in new residence building. That company took out the fol- lowing permits for these concrete block and stucco homes: At 1519 Rose, $9,000; 1631 Leon, $9,5000; 1510 Rose, $9,500; and 1500 Rose, $8,500. These are two and three hed- room homes. Phil Toppino took out a permit for a $14,000 concrete block and stucco residence at 1400 Von Phister. Another permit for a $9,000 home at 2418 Flagler was issued to the Noble Construction Co. E. C. Murry drew a permit for an $11,000 residence on Duck Ave. A $9,000 CBS home will. be built at 2401 Seidenberg by Roberto Santana. Other permits were: addition, $3,000.
