With Neil Saunders, I’m not so sure! The guy has a habit of making statements which would be considered “wild” for the ordinary man but which are true as far as Neil is con- cerned. For instance, while I was talking to him, a crew of experts was painting a huge sign that appeared to be about twice the size of the ordinary highway billboard. Along side of this big job, another painter was working on small placards —designed for grocery store windows. EIL AUNDERS EON IGNS Neil Saunders has spent a lifetime in sign work. He has rental signs for the highway, does all types of commercial work and outdoor advertising. BUT HIS SPECIALTY IS IN THE FIELD OF NEON SIGNS. Here’s a picture of E. L. Marsh op- erating a pump and injecting gas into those tubes which shine so prettily at night. Marsh’s job of bending glass is enough to give the average man the “shakes.” Most of us find it hard to dry a dish without shattering it to smithereens! Neil Saunders uses Underwriters’ Approved material for all his neon work. Outside wiring is enclosed in steel tubing and the ordinances of the City’s electrical and building codes are followed to a “T.” Saunders says that he has never yet been called back on a job because of unsatisfactory work. She does the jobs requiring intricate art work.” That last item is important—especially on highway billboards which often carry a picture of a particular building or store.
