Ray told the members of the local Kiwanis club at their weekly meet- ing last night in the La Concha Hotel.” In jokingly explaining his emo- tions on his presence at the meet- ing Father Ray told of the state- ment of a bride on her wedding night to her husband as they un- packed, “I’m mighty nervous but Tm sure glad to be here.” Father Ray was the guest of Father John Armfield at the meet- ing. Ip commencing the club’s new drive for members, Norton Harris and Harry Mitchell were chosen as team captains for competition in the forthcoming drive. It was poihted out that the club wanted quality first, then quantity, when it came to new members. Included in the routine business of the meeting, Truman Amy was elected program chairman to re- lieve Father Armfield while he is on vacation. Amy and Neblett will share the program duties. A thunderous applause was given a Key West High Schoo! Student, Miss Beverly Simmons, who furn- ished entertainment by doing a pantomime.
