Miami High Stingarees Defeat Key West Courtmen Tuesday By 79-52 Score RS * Cok ce hk x & & x ek Yt ke * Comstock, Range Twilight To Vie In Ladies’ Night Special Tonight kk Late Key West Drive Is Only Bright Spot In Miami Contest ‘The Miami High Stingarees prov- ef to have too much for the Key West High School basketball team last night and the result was a 79- 52 verdict over the Conchs. The taller Miamians, who had| been cut down to size by the) Conchs in an early season meet- ing, went right to work and fash- ioned a hefty lead, but in the lat- ter stages of the game, the Conchs came to life and actually managed to outscore the Stings in the final period. | “The boys played a pretty good game in the second half — but man, that first half was ragged,” opined Coach Win Jones this morn- ing. | Jones used four men at different/ stages of the ballgame in an at-| tempt at stifling the scoring threat| posed by the Sting’s Dick Hoban, all-state forward, but he still ma- naged to dump in 20 points. Two) Conchs, Ralph White and Dick Sal- gado, fouled themselves right out of the ballgame for watching him too closely. Charley Pike, who is also being considered for all-state honors, had 16 points for the Stings. Pint-sized Gibby Gates was the big gun for the Conchs with 15 points — eleven of them came in the final quarter during which the Conchs outscored Miami, 23-20. But by then it was too late. Julio Henriquez managed to col- lect 13 points for the evening but Glynn Archer, normally a high scorer, had an off night and could bucket but one field goal. The Stingarees went into a 23-7 lead in the first quarter of the ball- game and then stretched it to 35-15 at the half, They outscored the Conchs by ten points in the third stanza to set the stage for Key West’s strong finish, * The game gave a fair indication of what may happen in the upcom- ing District Class AA tourney Feb. 24-27 when the Conchs may get! another crack at Miami. The Stings are strong favoriets to walk off with that title and then go on to take the State Tourney two weeks later. Key West will hit the road Fri- day for a pair of tilts that should decide the Gold Coast Conference championship. Key West Kennel Club Results THE KEY WEST CI FIRST RACE a A. Those thousands of tiny bubbles fizzing and soaring in your glass of Budweiser are put there by Mother Nature in the costliest brew- ing and ageing process on Earth. Budweiser is the only beer in America with all natural carbonation all the time. You see, there is something that we could do, but don’t. We could artificially carbonate our beer after fermentation and package it. It would be beer, but certainly not Budweiser. Instead, our beer goes through a second fer- mentation.
