S. Naval Hospital on January 14. Mrs, Wakefield was hostess, Service bars were presented to all Gray Ladies giving 52 hours or more. They are the Mesdames C. R. Byer, S. Cox, A. Leightly, J. Swan, R. Workman, J O’Brien, |W A. Schoenfield, R. M Duke and E Fold. Mrs. Nettles announced that a new Gray Ladies class would start on February 8 and all interested persons should contact the Red Cross Office before February 1 to imake application, Mrs. Fold and Mrs. Kirke are to be hostesses for the January par- ty at the Old Folks Home. The next coffee is to be held at the Red Cross Recreation Hail at the hospital with Mrs. Butler as hostess on February 18 at 10 a. m. HAYMES HAS VIRUS MIAMI, Fla. @—Dick Haymes, night club entertainer and husband of movie star Rita Hayworth, was | reported today to be ill with a virus infection and failed to fill his en- gagement at the Clover Club. Haymes appeared at the club early in the week but missed one show Thursday night and did not appear last night. Work On Flower Show Is Continuing At Fast Pace As Volunteers Meet At Wallace B. Kirke Home To Weave Mats The lawns at the Wallace B. Kirke house on Von Phister Street were the scene of much/activity yesterday as a group of enthusiastic volunteers worked busily over oblong frames weaving coconut fronds into effective matting. : This matting, which will form screens around the bases of the stands at the Flower show in March, will also be used effectively as the walls and panels hf a central exhibit which is rustic hut designed and constructed by Wallace B, Kirke, who is staging director of the| Flower Show.
