SOCIETY — PERSONALS — NEWS OF INTEREST 10 WOMEN DOROTHY RAYMER, Society Editor Wednesday, June 24, 1953 THE KEY WEST CITIZEN Page 5 Looks like June is about through , mighty uncomfortable if they keep Dusting out all over and we are|on hanging around. just about to fourth of July. Seems | as though we haven’t had as many | and you will have quite a treat. June brides as usual, although I} know of one, and I’m going to tell you all abut it later. Anyhow, ye olde shop hopper | hhas been around again, and be- sides shopping and hopping, a think I have an item of great i terest to many ladies hereabouts. wx «ek One of the biggest complaints around the island, is lack of ser- vice on electrical equipment, like washers, refrigerators, and such. Well into the office yester- day came Newell Pinder, who proudly announced that he had just finished a special course in school where he learn- rvice all kinds of Ben- dix Autom: washing machin- es. He is working out of Yates Refrigeration Service Store over ‘on White Street, and if your lit- tle old Bendix is giving you trouble, or if you are contem- plating buying a new one, and are worried about Service, think no more of it, just go to the phone and call 2.3351 and ask for Newell Pinder, and he. will get there fast as anything. It’s nice to know that if your broken down old Bendix goes on a mechanical strike you can call Newell and still get your dirty d 's washed yet this week. Newell also told me that there are quite a few people around who have had their Bendix @ year or more, and get this. . . THEY HAVEN’T EVEN OILED THEM! Now this is a very ser- fous state of affairs because you can ruin the darn thing and run | yourself up @ great big repair bill if you don’t get it olled pron- to. That’s another thing that Newell will do for you. It’s well worth the $3.00 service call for | a thorough check-up on your machine and a Lubrication job. | Ladies, have you oiled your Bendix lately? x we * : Now back to June and weddings. There's nothing: that thrills my little old Shop Hopping heart like | the sight of cooing turtle doves, | and happy engaged couples plan- | ning their wedding day. | That is why I am so put out | about it that the newly wedded | Lilly came right up and rented | an apartment from me, and even | ij] feeling when they just up and| if I did ask a nosy question or two, like, “do you have children?’ never even hinted that they weren 14 even wed yet last Saturday, but were going to be married on Mon- day. . " Well Tl get even. Hey, kids, did you ever hear | ; ladies? Have you ever witnessed a charivari? No? Well! !! ! Guess I'll have to congratulate them anyhow, wish them loads of luck, and get my thrills belatedly, 1 still think it’s real mean though, "5 see ‘ nd in There's a bit of andora don't get boxes sent with pest: marks like “Bangkok’ and ‘Ma- “india,” and “Chini Well that is ably because we don’t own the Ditty Box and we | don’t have Mr. Lovell sending us ckages and boxes from these prea Mrs, Lovell does. Now I’m not going ‘way out on a limb and say that all renters are bad, but there sure are enough | of 'em to make landlords tough as a rhinoceros hide and cynical as | anything. Most every time a ten-| ant moves out, they just can’t help but purloin a favorite paring knife perhaps, or a pair of pillows, or an ash tray, Things of little worth, which can be replaced for two bits perhaps, but which make for more than two bits worth of disappear, Then of course there are the hu-! |man pigs who go around occupy- jing rented quarters and go away plain dirt. So don’t gripe too much about |renter, keep your place clean and jall the silverware. They are tough j only because of what other renters jhave done to them, You might even make up your mind right | now to try and change at least one landlord’s opinion of renters in general by being a model tenant, x 2 Every one is out to get some- | thing for nothing, and it always seems as though the grocery money goes the least far of any of the budget.
