DOROTHY RAYMER, Friday, April 17, 1953 Another week is ending with April 17. We are getting news of snowstorms, blizzards and what not from up north. Cooler here too, in fact very, very pleasant when you read about blizzards. They tell me that New England got a chilly breath, so it makes me wonder what happened with the weather the night Paul Revere took his famous ride on April 18, in 1775. Somehow I hope it was a fine spring night like comes quite often ‘way up in Massachusetts, with the smell of new grass, and the moon riding high reflected hundreds of times in silver pud- dies along the way. It would make his grim task so much the lighter. Or didn’t he see the beauty of the night? There 1 go again! It can’t be old age that makes me reminisce, that happened so very long ago. What's happening on sunny old Duval Street right now is what we are most interested in, fascinating as our history is, so lets make his- tory today on the niciest street in nicest town in the nicest state ! . i A F: qt z25 2% izi i i z= i Mi i i i i lj Z lt t i ? 3 HT! ht lf + i ; i z it ! } tt Li Ft i i z ose . a Fs i i : = r q ili 7 i a sere i afeiliee? fi rH fhe Mar-Ed Shop knows it too. The latest one was just made to pick up the phone in awhile and call lia or some distant port, up a considerable bill, I made an agreement, bills should te paid in full of the month, which is very good agreement to make. However, the phone company just ups and makes an agreement with themselves that every time I run up a little old long distance bill over $20 I pay it within the hour, » + or else. The trouble is, that “or else” clause, They don’t have to worry about selling their pro- duct. Every one wants it includ- nice if they’d told me about it so used to getting over that habit of mine in a hurry, and long distance calls. Well man was nice and that “or else” clause, did slam the receiver xk * All little folks like to sit up at tables like big folks, and most of them rebel at that high chair so early their chins don’t top the table cover. This here now place is as tastefully decorated as though they weren't selling every type of electrical appliance extant, and just because you don’t see it when you walk in is no sign they don't have it. Here’s a place that doesn’t believe in piling goods on goods all over the place until it bears 2 distinct resemblance to Macy's base- ment. The only one whe does that is Mr. Sylvia Appliance who piles driftwood all over the front yerd, and. so far mamma has pieces inside. These she uses strictly for decoration, and poor papa is relegated to the back room where he is allowed to smoke his pipe and make those beautiful driftwood lamps. Looking for just the right fan? Need an airconditioner these hot nights? Everything alright in the toaster department? Could you make better ice cream if you had a new Mix Master? How's your coffee? Ever drank any from @ Coffee Master? Been get- k up the carpet? Well if the inswer to these questions is all it is, you'd better go see iyivia Appliance store, ** * * Being an old Key West Player, I know better than stick my nose into rehearsal of a play I'm not working on before {it is produced. Well I went to see the new one last night and it’s breathtaking. It’s “Our Town” by Thornton Wil- der, and for my money, I'll go and look and listen to anything he temporary play to come from the pen of any man in America, It's wonderful, This morning a lady told me that she was only mildly interested in the first and second acts, thought they were good and well acted, but the third act took her breath away, and it was haunting her, I understand she's going back tonight, Well I share her feelings. I'm giad it will be on jtonight, tomorrow and Sunday, be- cause you shouldn't miss it. } Wave, only at Donsid’s. | ~*~ * * Have a nice weekend folks.
