Reckoning Gains Win Monday| Sports Mirror In Kennel Club Feature NAVY NIGHT SET FOR TONIGHT AS JULIENNE SEEKS WIN IN FEATURE Reckoning, a two year eld, owned by Mrs. H. E. Russell, captured a close, hardfought win last night in the feature race at the Key West Kennel Club, finishing just a half length ahead of the favored Foot- hill. The winner, starting from the post positioff, spent a) slight portion of the race | running third, but then took the lead at the quarter- pole and held it throughout, winning despite strong bids on the part of Foot Hill and Good Find, Reckoning paid 11.00 and 2.60. Foot Hill paid 2.60 and 2.80, while Good Find returned an even 4.00. Tonight is “Navy Night” at the track. All servicemen will be admitted free of eharge for the 45th night of racing action and the track management has lined up-a race which promises to be one of the most exciting to date. In the feature, Julienne, Melody Sis and Tammie will go out after a win against a banner field of thoroughbreds. Melody Sis, who won easily in her last outing against such dogs as Ven- dome and Reckoning, will bear watching - when springs from the box in the number two position. Other contenders include Forward, Hymor, Big Pay she |: Key West Medley Stakes Set Tonight The second leg of the Key West Medley Stakes will be run off tonight following their postponement as a re- sult of rain on Saturday night. After Tenny C. won a vic- fory in the first half of the mediey Wednesday night over the 5/16 mile distance, to- night the same field will ge back at it, but this time over the 3/8 mile course. ‘The outcome of the race is anyone's guess although at least four dogs should figure heavily in the wagering. De or Die, in particular, has blossomed into a real contend- er. Owned and trained by Cliff Waller, this puppy has cap- tured three firsts in just six starts in action thus far, tn addition, E. K. Hutching’s Mort, who has been setting the track on fire but who got inte trouble Wednesday, will bear watching as will Navy Diver, who is the only dog entered whe has run over the 3/8 mile distance. Other entries include Fool- sh, Houri, Col. Matt Wynn and Brindle Comer. The race will be the tenth en the program tonight. Bobby Avila of the Cleveland | Indians was the only member of the Tribe in "52 to bat .300 or bet- ter against Reynolds, Raschi, Lo- pat and Shantz. Of the American League clubs, only St. Louis and Chicago failed to hit at least one home run with the bases loaded in 1952. | sss VE sss TWINS GARAGE Means QUALITY AUTO ) tee BODY WORK | PAINTING | At the RIGHT PRICE | NEW STUDEBAKER | CARS AND TRUCKS Mean Maximum Economy POR REPAIR APPOINTMENT | AUTO DEMONSTRATION Come By 1130 DUVAL STREET | or DIAL 2.2401 sss SAVE sss EEL TODAY A Y¥.
