Dancing preceded and followed the show which was com. mentated by Ye Society Editor. The promenade of styles was from the Appel collection, and the store was not only cooperative in provid- ing the elothes but had every pre-show arrangement ready with brisk efficiency. All-jewelry was made by Coro. The stunning hair dressing was by Donald’s. The models came out in play- time outfits to open the show. Gloria Muniz and Betty Cooper wore beach sets of “hobo” design, the pattern of red and blue car- ried out by big bandanas and béach Kats. Betty carried a little cane with a beachbag attached . . . for beach accessories, or beating off wolf: beachcombers. Lavonda Sawyer looked come hither in crisp glazed swimsuit from the Catalina line and Gay Lou Barroso, demonstrated the classic streamlined chassis in smooth white. Nubbly fabric crea- of boucle and lastex was worn we sherry-haired Billy Canon. a butterfly suit whieh fits snug as cocoon. * in the leisure hour playtime class, Mickey Renna showed her flare for modeling first in a navy blue and white combination sun- dress and shorties set; polka dot in squares. Betty Roberts looked refreshing in @ sand white and green ensemble with detach- ‘and side tie to the play it. Sawyer was engaging pusher suit + Ga green scallops. Gay Lou Barroso appeared in a vanilla icecream colored concoc- tion with apple green outlined embroiderery padded to give body to the skirt. The illusion of lace was created in delicate rayon or- ganza with shadowy lace design. This entry, worn with grace by Betty Cooper, had black velvet trimming in a looped neckline. © Blue pepple crepe, eyelet em- broidered blouses and ice cotton with sculptured treatment provid- # ed highstyle symphony. Probably the trickiest dress in the show was expertly modeled by Mickey Renna. The jacket is criss- crossed in two pieces so that either one side or both sides can be re- moved. With the jacket on, it’s for shopping or cool days; with the one shoulder drape, it’s for after- noon, and to round out the round- the-clock idea, both sides off makes the gown one suitable for dancing or cocktails, Easter special done in a roman- tic manner with floating bouffant skirt over pink underskirt featured a design of roses and lace nose- gays in crossstitch on the trans parent overskirt- The belt was in moss green. More formal wear in the Appel offering was pointed up by a gown in a real Key West aqua tint achieved by putting sea green over blue. The material of the creation is silk organza. A Coronation in- fluence was noted in the across the heart soft drape. Gay Lou Barroso wore a charm- ing redingcote ensemble in creamy “sho nuff” costum: The Dutch cap i tractive, but alas BEACH BELLE, ten years later, in 1890, still conceals curves but has graduated to brighter colors.
